The 24th Kurume Yakitori Japan's Best Festival

The "24th Kurume Yakitori Japan's Best Festival," a specialty event in Kurume City which boasts one of the highest numbers of yakitori restaurants in Japan, will be held for two days on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Higashimachi Park in Kurume City. At the venue, proud yakitori from a total of 12 shops—10 famous Kurume yakitori shops and 2 guest vendors—will gather, allowing visitors to enjoy taste comparisons. In addition, the annually popular Ichiban Shibori draft beer, Heartland draft beer, tasting comparisons of Chikugo local sake, shochu, and renowned sake, as well as a super carbonated highball garden will appear. The Kurume Ramen Association and Chikugo Udon Promotion Association will also set up stalls, bringing together Kurume's three major local gourmet foods. On Saturday, September 12, Risa Kuroda, Kurume Hometown Ambassador and Kurume Yakitori Ambassador, is scheduled to visit. An experiential event for elementary school students, "Kids' Yakitori Festa," will also be held, where children can actually grill yakitori and enjoy themselves. Grilled yakitori can be taken home for free, limited to the first 50 participants each day (guardian accompaniment required, advance registration required). Admission is free, but sales at each stall are paid.
