Toshiya Takahama: House Gathering in Meguro

About this event

An exhibition themed around 'House Gathering' (Ie Atsume) by copperplate printmaker Toshiya Takahama will be held at the Meguro Museum of Art. This exhibition focuses on Takahama's activities carried out in Japan and abroad, exhibiting together his copperplate prints and 'towns' composed of wooden building-block 'houses' created by local people ranging from children to adults. In particular, wooden blocks and prints made by children during classes taught by Takahama at elementary schools within the ward will be exhibited together with Takahama's copperplate print works from his early career to his latest creations. Through this unique exhibition, visitors can experience the merging of children's creativity with Takahama's artistic world, giving rise to new 'town' landscapes.
