About this event

"Fire Art Festival" is a celebration held at Geijutsu Mura Park in the Kitamimaki district of Tomi City, a place associated with the Sue ware pottery culture of the Nara period, where people gather around the fire of a climbing kiln (noborigama) to enjoy Tomi's arts, food, music, craftsmanship, and culture. The theme is "Encounter of Fire, Water, and People." Surrounded by rich nature, visitors can enjoy a pleasant autumn time. During the event period, "fire" is lit in the "climbing kiln" located within the venue, Geijutsu Mura Park, to fire ceramic works created by local children and others. Firewood is fed into the kiln over two days and two and a half nights, and on the night of the first day, large pillars of fire can be seen from the four chimneys of the climbing kiln. Watched over by the smoke and flames rising from these four chimneys, the event began from feelings of experiencing local culture and arts, celebrating the autumn harvest together, and appreciating the beautiful nature of autumn colors, and this year marks its 34th edition. Vendors from various genres such as craft, culture, green, and food are also invited, further enlivening the event.
